at its edge lies the bride’s forsaken shawl.
A baker in Batumi, Georgia is observed across four chapters. The film documents his daily activity without commentary or intervention. Over the course of the recording, he bakes 36 loaves of bread in a small roadside bakery.
He counts the cars passing by…
one – two – three – four – five – six
A central gesture is the counting of passing cars.
Spoken aloud and in sequence, the act becomes a way of measuring time, registering environment, or simply continuing.
Natural daylight defines the scene.
Elements of the space include: a single lamp, one oven, two tables, a shelf, a worn school chair, and a half-open window.
The film does not stage or interpret. It accompanies a process.
Its structure is divided into four chapters, marked by shifts in sound and on-screen chapter titles.
chapters
(ch.1) in their empty pool, we sorted the leaves together
(ch.2) we hear the fountain through the small window, next to us a blind mirror
(ch.3) the ice that grows in the garden along the wall, covers the day after tomorrow
(ch.4) we let them sit, at the place where we sat
